Hi, didn't see a good way to contact you other than opening an issue.
Since you have a pi in the rocket, I thought maybe your telemetry module could either step outside of that boundary or another module could be made for control.
The idea is this:
Your control program performs a pre-launch checklist to make sure all the pieces are working prior to launch.
This includes each device intended to be active for the flight.
It may or may not include wireless contact with the ground device.
It may or may not include a manually closed switch operated by a human, or a button you push on the ground device. Or just a command you enter saying go.
Control module lights the candle from inside the rocket. Or tells the ground device to do so.
The github account is new because all my projects to date have been on a work account. But the email address is real, so if you respond here I will see it.

If the control program is its own module, then it could be expanded by some interested party to control the rocket or even trigger experiments on the rocket.
