A feature to deliver mail directly to paperless, i.e. the MTA calling a paperless binary and passing the mail, would be quite useful.
I want to have an address where I can send PDFs to be ingested, either manually or via automatic rules. For that I am currently running a Dovecot server exclusively for paperless. If Postfix could deliver to paperless directly it would cut out the middleman without, in effect, changing the results of the processing.
I thing this could be implemented by having a python file getting called by postfix, doing the same processing mail_fetcher is currently doing, and putting the documents into the queue. There would probably have to be some separate but similar filter rules for this, to allow for applying the various tags as is currently possible. Another consideration to take into account is how to handle invalid mail/mail without attachments. In contrast to mail_fetcher, unprocessed mails would be lost if not saved somewhere.
