You're on Linux so need to use the original keycode in defsrc and not post-os-remapping Dvorak keys. I.e. remap as if it were QWERTY:

I'm hesitant to report an Issue as I don't have anything concrete apart from kanata not working.
I'm on linux (Ubuntu 20.04), on an 8gb ram i5 hp probook x360.
I've added my user to input and uinput
and I've set up the systemd user service with modprobe uinput
I'm not getting any errors in kanata output.
but I haven't gotten kanata to work outside of a strange second
where 3+ instances where running at once (I felt ecstatic, then was soul crushed when I closed an instance of kanata and it stopped working TT)
Im using a dvorak styled home row mod layout I got from (Dreams of Code)
but have also tried to use kanata for just remapping capslock in the past.
