For notebook clients which are not being launched by a javascript engine with ipyleaflet js dependencies installed, currently the behavior of the widget doesn't support a good default rendering experience when viewed later by clients with js enabled.

For more context on a concrete example see:
nteract/papermill#296

I was wondering if there was any changes that could be made to better support this execution pattern and store meaningful and rerenderable outputs in the notebook document?

I want to emphasize that the discussion Matt linked is important context for this question.
