Instead of forking, this repository could simply be a template, imo much nicer

The current workaround (that I know of) would be to fork this repo, select "Template this repository" in the repo settings and then make a template of the fork.

Making the original repository a template would be nice, especially since commits to don't appear in a user's contributions graph, while commits to a repository created from a template do appear in a user's contribution graph. It also seems like a clean way for people to track their own challenge progress separately from any pull requests to the original repo they make after forking the original repo.
