I run locally a basic Scala, Akka HTTP-based Service which uses Akka Actors to process the data.
I use Kamon in order to observe my application, which also provides a metric for http_server_connection_open which by documentation shows the number of open connections.
I run the App locally, and fired 5 requests.
I can see that the number of requests is indeed 6
BUT, http_server_connection_open metric is increasing rapidly periodically and its shows now number which i cannot understand.
# HELP http_server_connection_open Number of open connections
# TYPE http_server_connection_open histogram
http_server_connection_open_bucket{port="8080",interface="0.0.0.0",le="10.0",component="akka.http.server"} 18666.0
Any ideas why it's showing such a high number which always increasing?
val kamonVersion = "2.5.1"
lazy val kamon = Seq(
"io.kamon" %% "kamon-bundle" % kamonVersion,
"io.kamon" %% "kamon-prometheus" % kamonVersion
)
