How would I set FPS using libcamera?

Hi, I am new using libcamera python and I wanted to know how I could set FPS for the camera. I tried to look through the code but I was unable to find anything.

I mean could you name the flag if there is a flag to change or point me to the code that has fps changing.

@tomba please if you could help me. I am unable to use OpenCV or other libraries so need to reuse your code and I am unable to find how you guys set FPS.

I think fps is set with the controls, FrameDurations most likely.

I haven't used the control in question, but on how to use controls: you can have a look at src/py/examples/simple-cam.py, which sets Brightness control.

Note you probably want to set frame duration limits control at start() time. Tomi, can python pass controls in at start?

@kbingham what is the syntax though, is it to be passed as config parameter or in start like cam.start(minFrameDuration = "x")

Hmm, we don't seem to have any example for that. start() takes a dict, with control-id as the key, and control value as the value. I'm not able to test right now, but probably something like this:

start({libcam.controls.Brightness: 0.5})

Also, while we (libcamera) of course should have proper docs and examples, at the moment RPi's picamera2 may also be a good source for examples as it is using libcamera's python bindings.
