Reduce the constraints of the environment required just for translation?

I am stuck because I have to build the development environment just to translate.
I wanted to translate into French. I am familiar with gettext tools and have some knowledge of development (though not in this environment), but it's not enough, which is a shame.
The build command fails because of the libadwaita-1 >=1.6 prerequisite, and I can't install it on Linux Mint 22.2 or 22.3.
I could provide the complete .po file in French, but I wouldn't be able to test it.

If you could find a way to ease these constraints, you would certainly get many more translations.

Finally, I was able to build an environment for translating :

• Installation of a Debian 13 virtual machine for the requirement libadwaita-1 >= 1.6

• curl and gettext were missing from the list of packages to install:
  sudo apt install valac meson ninja-build pkg-config libadwaita-1-dev libgtk-4-dev libglib2.0-dev libjson-glib-dev libgee-0.8-dev libgirepository1.0-dev libsoup-3.0-dev cmake desktop-file-utils jq curl gettext

• Build, compile and install will now work :

meson setup build --prefix=$HOME/.local
meson compile -C build
meson install -C build 

• After completing the translation file ./AppManager/po/fr.po, you must:
  Generate the .mo files: meson compile -C build then meson install -C build
  Test: LANGUAGE=fr ~/.local/bin/app-manager

You can build and test appimage on any machine if you can install podman. Then run scripts/make-anyimage.sh that will build new appimage in a arch container using podman thus removing any dependency limits. Then you can do some tests.

I did try Crowdin free version, but it supports only 60k words, then it's 100$/mo. We are here over 386k words. So no GUI translate for now.
