Hello, I read that Mono is supported, so I tried it on a Xamarin.Android app, but upon loading an image it crashes with:

Message = "libvips-42.dll assembly: type: member:(null)"

I installed the latest nuget and the generic Netvips.Native.

Any suggestion on how to install/use the library? (if it can work on Xamarin)

Thanks

Supporting Xamarin.Android (or Android devices in general) would require libvips to be cross-compiled with an Android-compatible toolchain such as NDK. See: lovell/sharp-libvips#38.

Let's tag this as an enhancement.

@fredprodibi Do you mean UWP? I think that should work without any problems, please open a new issue if it doesn't.

I'll close this as "won't fix" since Xamarin is no longer supported.

Xamarin.Android, Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.Mac are now integrated directly into .NET (starting with .NET 6) as .NET for Android, .NET for iOS, and .NET for Mac. If you're building with these project types today, they should be upgraded to .NET SDK-style projects for continued support.

Xamarin.Forms has evolved into .NET Multi-platform App UI (MAUI) and existing Xamarin.Forms projects should be migrated to .NET MAUI.

Xamarin support ended on May 1, 2024 for all Xamarin SDKs including Xamarin.Forms. Android API 34 and Xcode 15 SDKs (iOS and iPadOS 17, macOS 14) are the final versions Xamarin targets from existing Xamarin SDKs (that is, no new APIs are planned).
