Unable to get HomeKit QR Codes to display

I'm attempting to convert from homebridge to scrypted but I'm having difficulties with the basics so far. I'm running Ubuntu Server on a NUC 13 Pro.

After running through the install guide using the docs website, I get to the point where I need to add the cameras to homekit, but the QR codes do not display anywhere (either on the Homekit plugin itself, or on any cameras in standalone mode).

I can see the manual pairing codes, but they don't actually work when typed in manually in the home app accessory add wizard.

Initially, I removed homebridge and installed Scrypted on my NUC which was running Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS. I saw in the docs that 22.04 was recommended, so I wiped the NUC and installed that fresh, and end up with the same issue.

Below are the steps I took on the fresh install:

1. Installed/Update Ubuntu Server Jammy (currently 22.04.4 LTS)
2. Installed Scrypted with the Linux - Docker script here: https://docs.scrypted.app/installation.html
3. Logged into Scrypted, set my server address to the wired IP under Settings (saw this as a potential cause elsewhere)
4. Installed the Unifi plugin, entered my UDM IP/credentials - all cameras were imported and the streams work great
5. Installed the homekit plugin, and after selecting it I see the text 'Pairing QR Code', but no image appears
6. Checked the cameras, which are all defaulted to standalone accessory mode, and they all have the same issue
7. Tried reloading/restarting the plugins and Scrypted, and rebooting the NUC itself, but still can't get the QR codes to load
8. I tried pairing the cameras with the manual pairing codes, but the home app just spins and then times out trying to add them
9. I also tried using another browser just in case it was a display issue with Firefox, but I got the same in edge/chrome.

I'm assuming since its failing out of the box that I'm doing something wrong, I'm just not sure what. Most of the threads I was able to find regarding missing QR codes were installation errors that they resolved by re-installing, but unfortunately I'm getting it from the go.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Just confirming those are the logs you’re looking for correct? @koush

Rerun the docker install script. Seems your avahi daemon is broken. if that doesn't fix it, switch to ciao in the HomeKit plugin.

Tried rerunning the docker install script, but no luck getting avahi daemon to work. Switched to ciao and everything is working perfectly now. Thanks @koush !

I tried this again from the start with the Linux + Docker method, including re-installing Ubuntu server again, and had the same problem with no QR codes.

I switched to Proxmox VE 8.2 as that seemed to be the preferred OS in the docs, and it worked flawlessly using the same steps I was taking with the Ubuntu version to configure Scrypted. It was all the same but the QR codes actually appeared.

Perhaps there is an issue with the Ubuntu docker image maybe specific to the NUC 13 pro hardware? In any case I'm good now, and the performance is notably better than what I got with Homebridge!
