TL;DL
Any objections if we no longer ship
Makefile.simple
in future calc releases?The details
It appears that using conditional statements in Makefile, such as:
See Conditional Syntax for more examples.
Support of conditional syntax become fairly common in
make(1)
utilities, and seem to have been widely supported for quite some time. Way back when calc was first written, and even in the 1990's, this wasn't the case.We are thinking about dropping support of releasing
Makefile.simple
in the next release of calc. Building them has always been an awkward. Supporting them and testing them is time consuming and problematic. Removing the support to build them would simply theMakefile
.This would require that one use a make tool that supports conditional statements in order to compile calc.
Any objections to dropping the support of
Makefile.simple
in future releases of calc?Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
