How to implement a delay inbetween 2 steps?

With the Movecategory step, we move courses to a trash can (a hidden course category). There they should remain for 3 months before being deleted in the Deletecourse step. Similar to the EMail step, I expected that in the Movecategory step you could specify a delay for when the next step should be executed. Alternatively, there could perhaps be a special delay step. However, neither of these solutions seems to exist.

I imagine that many workflows require such a delay. How do you solve the requirement for a delay? Or has anyone implemented this at the code level?

We have implemented such a delay by splitting the workflow in two. The trash can category then has a category enrolment for a user with a special role. The inversion of trigger_byrole added by 933cd99 is necessary for this, so you will have to wait for the next official release or use a development version.

The first workflow moves the course to the trash can category, the second workflow then triggers after the configured delay and deletes the course permanently. The bonus here is that you don't need to duplicate the course deletion logic within every workflow.
