- Windows 7 or later (sorry no plan for Mac, and impossible on Xbox/PS4).
- Elite Dangerous Market Connector (aka EDMC). Note: you can probably skip the step where EDMC will ask to login with your Frontier/ED credentials if that worries you (EDR does not need this).
- EDMCOVerlay Currently included with EDR. Note: future versions will rely on a canonical EDMCOverlay to avoid conflict with other plugins.
- Playing Elite: Dangerous in Open. EDR only makes sense in Open.
- Download EDR's latest release
- Start EDMC
- Open the
File
menu, then click onSettings
. - Go to the
Plugins
tab and press theOpen
button. This will reveal the plugins folder. - Create a sub-folder named "EDR"
- Open the EDR .zip archive that you just downloaded and copy its content inside the EDR folder.
- Re-start EDMC so that it notices EDR.
Simply repeat the steps above. Just overwrite your current version, you won't lose any of your preferences or credentials.
EDR should work out of the box. If you start a game in Open, you should see an intro message (e.g. "EDR V0.8.0 by LeKeno").
Most EDR features work without requiring an account.
However, if you want to:
- Help other EDR users by reporting outlaws, common enemies or player interactions (e.g. interdictions, deaths)
- See real-time alerts for powerplay enemies
- Create a custom commander index then, you will need to apply for an EDR account.
After you have obtained your EDR credentials, follow these steps to authenticate yourself:
- Start EDMC
- Open the
File
menu, then click onSettings
. - Go to the
EDR
tab. - Enter your EDR credentials (i.e. email and password)
- Click OK, launch Elite, look at the EDR status line. It should say "authenticated".
Setup the type of feedback that suits you best:
- Go to EDR’s options panel from EDMC > File > Settings
- Enable visual and/or audio feedback.
- Click OK.
