only one char in PrioritySortChar?

Does the option PrioritySortChar accept only one character?

I would like to use a list of single characters like ._#. This should mean

• first the . files (and directories)
• then the _ files
• then the # files and
• then all the rest

but currently only the . seems to be accepted.

Yeah, OK, I see the problem ... you get then easy to to idea to define an order like .*, *.*, ~*.*, *.bak

Not a bad idea, I'll give it a try.

FYI, you can set ShowHiddenFiles to first (or last) to sort dot files first (or last). Also, you can set SkipNonAlnumPrefix to false, in which case #file won't be sorted as file, but according to its actual name (#file). In this way you get something similar to what you're asking for.

With .#_ it looks like this now:

This is exactly what I would like to have. Also that __ comes before _.

I know, number 14 is strange but Emacs makes this for decades, this is a temporary file of Gnus but it doesn't get into $TMP, it's always here in $HOME, also on Linux.

I still have some ~ files from time to time (damned backup files you never get rid of ...), I'll put them also into this order.

I know about these temp files. In fact, if there is a define for TEMP in your color scheme file, these files (an other temp files as well) should be printed with the color assigned to TEMP (by default it should be some kind of gray). I don't know why it is not grayed out here.

You can add these to PrioritySortChar as well, of course.
