I mean I don't really think this is necessary. It'd require a fairly large change to the codebase to support this for all commands, and it's like... Just post the link in chat or run the download command?

That's also the thing, the $download command runs a lot of code (yt-dlp) so I really don't want to have to randomly call it to check if a link is valid. And if it's a direct link then you literally just post it in chat and then run the command
