Upstreaming in Panel

Thank you for building this excellent component! We have a client that needs an improved file selector both for local and remote file systems. I've started to try to improve and adapt your implementation but want to check in with you what your preference is for where this should live. Currently this work lives here: holoviz/panel#6837

If you have a strong preference for continuing to maintain this package I'm happy to contribute my changes here, otherwise I'm also happy to bundle it into Panel for the time being.
