Tried to manually start the new VM that was installed, failed with this error:

aha. this is actually literally a BIOS setting, you have to enable VT-x or anything that says 'hardware virtualization' in your BIOS

Actual issue here: We need to add some one-time instructions to our setup docs that tell people what settings they need in their BIOS. A lot of Win10 boxes I noticed have hardware accelerated virtualization extensions turned off by default.
