Adding a tar.gz option to release bundles

Would it be possible to add a tar.gz to the realese bundles for the registries.json?

I would really like to know what the benefits would be. The registries.json is small so no difference in file size and the registries.json will be automatically downloaded and if you wanna do that manually, you can just copy the file there without having to unpack it.

Totally understand just the network I work in blocks zip downloads. Admittedly this may be only useful for very few (maybe even just me) so if its more effort than its worth I understand not adding it in.
