Parsing Latex in an MDX file

I'm currently trying to build a website with next.js and want to include .mdx files so part of my team can easily add their own documentation without needing to know a lot about webdevelopment.
Many of these files will include mathematical expressions, however I'm kind of running into some problems while trying to get that to work.

This is part of my next.config.mjs file:

    extension: /\.mdx?$/,
    options: {
        remarkPlugins: [remarkMath],
        rehypePlugins: [rehypeKatex]

    }
})

And this is my test.mdx file:

$$\frac{1}{1}$$

The output that I'm seeing on my website is both the correctly rendered latex output, as well as some output that looks like that output but just copy and pasted (I don't know how to properly describe that sorry)

What am I making wrong can someone please help me out?
