iOS defaults to .HEIC for photos, which a lot of apps/services don't support. For example, Photoview supports it while PiGallery2 presently does not. This would be a major factor for an iOS user.

This seems like a reasonable feature to add. It is partially covered under the Live Photos feature, but it is possible that a photo gallery may support HEIC without Live Photos.

For sure. Piwigo does support HEIC, but not Live Photos (not yet)
