does the VST2 version work? VST3 and CLAP use the same setup for idling the GUI, so seems normal for them to behave the same. |

VST2 version uses old style of host-provided idling.

Installed VST2. No labels on the GUI as in VST3 and CLAP. But VST2 doesn't freeze Reaper's GUI |
