Register API manually while custom metadata is required

Custom metadata can be defined as optional or required.
Whenever I configure metadata as required, I can only register a new api when providing the required metadata.
It would be great, if we could add functionality that while manually registering the api via vs code extension, it will detect if metdata is required and if it is, it will also ask me these questions during registration.
