Total Energy Consumption

Hello everyone,

first things first: what a great addon to Home Assistant! Got a new SH10RT yesterday morning, and since yesterday evening I get the most detailled and nicely organized info about my entire setup with this great modbus integration!

One question though.. What would be the smartest way to get a sensor for the total daily energy consumption, so that I have an overall number how much kWh were consumed during the day? I think its the combination of
daily imported energy + daily battery discharge + daily direct energy consumption

Being quite new to HA, I think a new sensor would have to be defined which adds up these three sensors.. Would have to figure out how to do that though.. Or does a sensor already exist in modbus which contains this?

Hi, I think that would be the way to go. I just use the energy dashboard from HA to get that information.

But of course, this is not a sensor. ;)
When checking the configuration of the Energy Dashboard, following sensors are being used to provide all the information there:

But all the maths re daily usage is done within HA. The same approach with existing daily sensors from modbus integration would also be possible imho.

I now generated a "helper" in HA which adds up the three numbers and now is available as a new sensor:)
