How to run migrations without creating ormconfig.json ?

Having trouble running migrations from project root getting error No connection options were found in any orm configuration files, if running from /src/typeorm/config getting error Cannot use import statement outside a module. As a workaround I have added the ormconfig.json file with all the environment variables, is there another way to do this ?

Figured out, needed to use ts-node to run the cli.

Edit: for anyone looking this up there is also and npm script that can be run like npm run migration:generate UserRefactoring
