Some users have seem to have had trouble reading the plugin information to figure out how to add the plugin, expecting a settings page ( 1, 2, 3, 4 ). Certainly doesn't require a settings page, in fact was built in such a way as to avoid it to prevent users being confined to just one page, and this approach has been justified.

One possible method to prevent this confusion/incompetence is to redirect users to a landing page when they activate the plugin. This landing page will be branded and include a brief welcome, as well as information about how to use the plugin (widgets page or customizer for widgets, dashboard or post WYSIWYG ( from 1.7, #7 ) for the shortcode generator). Also include a feed of recent blog posts and links to install my other WordPress plugins
