The big feature in this release is the new motion sensor code. This should provide much better battery savings for devices with no significant motion sensor, and works around hardware bugs in devices such as the Galaxy S5.

  • Added developer option to limit zoom out of map.
  • Refactored code so that to make an embeddable library
  • Better motion sensor code for the Galaxy S5 and other devices which
either lack a signficant motion sensor or have buggy sensors.
  • SSID blacklists have been removed as this is handled better by the
    server-side.
  • Tests! More tests!

This release fixes some problems with the motion detection power saving feature. Specifically, logic fixes related to timestamp comparison of when a valid GPS was last seen. The Log Activity has additional info to help us debugging problems with this.

Thanks to:
@cascheberg for fixing a bug with leaving the GPS active when paused, and also a bug with showing the initial location on the map view

Motion sensor fixes against the 1.5.0 release.

  • The LegacyMotionSensor should now work for devices that do not support the TYPE_LINEAR_ACCELERATION (API 9) accelerometer, but work with the TYPE_ACCELEROMETER (API 3). It still won't be as nice as having signficant motion detection.
  • Build changes to support fdroid.
  • Added some developer options to test motion sensors.
