Linux Debian based distro
MPV 0.35.1
I apologize, I have seen this mentioned before, but the post was closed and was from 2015-2018.
I was wondering if by any chance this is now possible in 2024?
I am looking for a built in setting that allows only one instance of MPV to run at a time.
ALREADY AWARE OF
-I am aware that you can drag & drop content into MPV GUI using your mouse to achieve this, looking for what is mentioned above.
-I have not tried it yet, but I am aware that there is a 3rd party script for this called UMPV that was mentioned in that closed post, but was looking for something built in.
USES / DESIRED FEATURES
-Main use would be to be able to load up content from a 3rd party file manager into one instance of MPV and when you do so MPV window gets focus.
-Not sure if anyone else would be interested in the following, but maybe another separate setting could also be added that does the same as mentioned above, but instead MPV window (IF ALREADY OPENED), does NOT get focus but plays the content. This would be useful if listening / testing out audio content where you would rather keep focus in file manager rather than give it to MPV each time.
(Hopefully this makes sense how I am describing it)
This one kind of surprised me because MPV can do pretty much everything, so this seems a little strange that there is no built in way to achieve this. Other media players have this feature so it is possible in Linux. I have never seen any developer mention a reason why this is not included? Is this feature difficult to add, or is there a known reason why this specific feature is not included in MPV?
I would like to make this a request post if that is okay, but I figured I would start with a "Question" post first.
If any developers can give me the okay to open a request post for this feature, I will do so.
Thank you to anyone who reads this and for any information provided
