weblog.lol: how tag names get slugified

This isn't critical, but I thought I'd ask: is the slugification process for tag names some sort of native PHP function, or a custom one? Wondering because if the latter, I wanted to see if use of a . in a tag name could get slugified into a - instead of just being stripped out.

Use case: tagging my posts for the domain they originally appeared on, so a tag of portlandstories.org would become the slug portlandstories-org and not portlandstoriesorg.

It’s a custom function, so it’s easy to adjust—and I totally agree that dots should become dashes. Just fixed it!

Putting in an additional request for / and @ in a tag name to get slugified to -.

ETA: Ah, shit. Except my use case is something like medium.com/@bixmediocre, in which case two - should get compacted to one -. My use cases are always so damned complicated.

No problem. medium.com/@bixmediocre now turns into medium-com-bixmediocre. (Any number of touching dashes will now turn into a single dash.)
