Moderation

Due to recent events, I'm wondering how moderation is handled on nix-community's repositories. Could someone please expand on that?

And as a follow-up: Would you be interested in the NixOS moderation team filling that role for this organization?

At the moment it's the 5 admins of the infra team: https://github.com/nix-community/infra/blob/master/docs/administrators.md#responsibilities

Currently 3 of the 5 admins are also in the moderator team.
However I think the limitation of the group size to 5 was mainly done for security of the nix-community infra, it would make sense to have a moderator team bigger than that, since the organization considerably grew and I think it should be possible to add moderators without giving them access to any secrets.

One thing we should probably do is add a CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md that includes a clear escalation path for reporting.

I have no objections to a code of conduct, etc but I'd prefer that we follow the lead of the nixos org on these topics and just adopt whatever they have rather than us making independent decisions and needing to deal with any differences that may arise.

AFAIK the nixos org currently doesn't have one, I think if we want something now we also need to make the decision that it is temporary and that we'll follow the nixos org on these decisions.

I hacked something together, I hope that it has the right tone and high-level spirit. The main interest is to provide a clear contact point in case people encounter some issues.

You can add organization members or teams as moderators for your organization. Moderators can block and unblock users from the organization, minimize comments, and manage interaction limits for all public organization repositories.
You may add up to 10 members or teams as moderators.

Should we add some moderators? home-manager is probably the highest traffic project in the org, might be useful for them?

Do you have any candidates in mind? I noticed that @RaitoBezarius has been responsive and doing a good job at setting standards when things get a bit out of hand.

Sorry, thought I'd already replied to this. The moderator permissions aren't sensitive, anything that is problematic can be reverted. Should be fine to just give it to people who maintain high traffic repos or people who maintain multiple repos in the org.
