Bug description

Can't connect a Google account to use the Calendar feature

Steps to reproduce

1. In the Noctalia Settings go to Services > Calendar Accounts > Add Account > Google
2. After changing the options, click Save and Connect
3. Log in with a Google account in the opened Browser window

Expected behavior

Getting logged in with the Google account and seeing the Google Calendar Events in the Calendar Tab

This app is blocked

If you're referring to the "Account ID" field, that field is NOT related to your Google ID. See Noctalia docs.

Lemmy also confirmed on Discord that the id field is just an identifier you can choose so you can find that calendar's settings in Noctalia's settings.toml file.

Also our app is not validated yet by google, so you will get a warning about it being insecure. but it works fine. Hope it wont take forever.

I just tried the full flow again and it works for me (tm)

Some of us get the app access blocked error that OP showed in his screenshot. Maybe we have to wait for Google to validate the app? If so, how long might that take?

Personally, I followed the same flow as OP mentioned: add a Google account from Noctalia settings --> Save and Connect --> Google account selector page opens --> when I select an account, Google blocks the auth app with the same error as in OP's screenshot.

After a while the "Google Calendar connection failed" notification pops up, presumably because Noctalia is waiting for an authorization that never goes through.

I can provide more logs if needed, but I don't know where to get them from. Noctalia's regular logs don't show anything during the Google connection flow.

So, from what i can tell this is just an issue of time. ItsLemmy said Noctalia has not yet been verified by Google, which makes sense. The actual system in place works but until Google verifies Noctalia this issue will persist. If we just wait until Google verifies Noctalia it will (probably) work flawlessly
