There should be endpoints exposed in rofl-appd which implement custom watchdog functionality:

Enable the watchdog and specify the required check-in interval.
Once enabled the app needs to periodically ping the watchdog otherwise it causes the ROFL app to stop by aborting the init process, triggering a kernel panic.
