Goal: Create a sensible image from the spectral band data

What should our method do?

  • Allow us to see ice
  • Possibly uses a cloud mask to smartly deal with cloudy pixels

How do we do it?

  • For the multispectral (IMG and MOD) data, we open and possibly combine a subset of the available bands within the netCDF files
  • For the day-night band data, there is only one band which is more like grayscale

What questions or issues remain?

  • For the multispectral (IMG and MOD, not DNB) files, is there an optimal single band or do we first want to create a true color image? For tracking, we may be working with grayscale images anyway
  • For creating true color, is this Satpy example helpful? There is also this Satpy tutorial and associated github
