Sorry but can you bring it up again. Any particular reasons of discontinuing? I still use it on one of my devices.

Maybe most developers ran out of time and maintaining a free project like this wasn't worth it.
From what they said, one of the developers continued development on his fork:

https://github.com/Helium314/openboard

It's the keyboard I'm currently using.

You mean this?

https://f-droid.org/packages/org.dslul.openboard.inputmethod.latin/

I will try and see how it works. Thanks.

He means https://github.com/Helium314/openboard indeed: a fork very active since July 2023.

If you look at the last update of https://f-droid.org/packages/org.dslul.openboard.inputmethod.latin/, it's more than one year (August 2022 ) , like last commits of https://github.com/openboard-team/openboard/ (December 2022). dsul is the name of the creator and maintainer of this repository.

I continue to use https://github.com/openboard-team/openboard/ because I don't need updates currently, but my next update will not be here if this project is not active anymore.

If you use Izzy's repo you can get Helium's board on F-Droid:

https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/helium314.keyboard

I don't begrudge the devs at all for being done with openboard but it would do the community a solid to link to the updated fork on the main page.
