When typing, after around 4 characters, the text will auto-complete and insert the text before the cursor, this happens after every character typed, so a longer word gets exponentially longer, and garbled, though the last few characters are always the word correctly spelled.

This has been a very difficult bug to reproduce, but I have experienced this mostly in the Element X app, while editing old messages, though recently, this has extended to new messages as well.

I would expect the keyboard to not do this:

Note: I am using the F-droid version of both OpenBoard and Element X

Hi
I have exactly the same problem since a few days.
I dont understand how it is possible to occur just right now as :

  • no recent android system update
  • no change from the openboard installed version, it is still 1.4.5

I remember having installed gboard from google to test a functionality. I didn't have problem before...

I tested without any amelioration : wipe cache/datas from openboard.

I'll test now to uninstall gboard.

My config :
F-droid 1.17.0
Openboard 1.4.5
Huawei p20 lite
Android 9.1.0.363
