temp compensation limited? unable to apply with HTU21D

new boards with what i am using a HTU21D (temperature, humidity) sensors and they measure 8.5 °c too high. by using the temperature compensation trying -8.5 in the form i cannot get the measured values to change , no compensation is applied. am i doing something wrong or can someone show me how to fill it for this sensor. i also have a bm280 board and with that sensor the adjustment does work like it should by setting the (-)0.0 in the field
