I agree this would be a very cool feature for both IOS and android. |

@devUBi would you mind sharing the code you use to work with beacons to make it easier to implement in the openHAB app? I want it myself quite for a long time (even have 8 beacons ;-) |

I'm almost done with the integration in openHAB and on testing at the moment. I will send a pull request for the first version in a few days. |

You can actually do this with OwnTracks and the mqtttitude binding. OwnTracks has a "beacon" setting, and can publish ON or OFF to Openhab via the mqtttitude binding. |

i would like to add beacon support to the ios app in the settings section. You should be able to add beacons (maybe with autodetection of beacons in range) and define for each beacon a call to a switch item from OpenHAB. When beacon is in range do a REST call with command ON to the customized item, when beacon is out of range do a REST call with command OFF to the customized item. I'm currently using that with my own little app and would like to migrate that to OpenHAB. My usecases at the moment are, switching lights on when i'm in range of one beacon and sun is gone. Second case: using for preset detection switching alarm on when out off range of beacons and leaving home.
