SDL is out of date #1
Comments
Hi there, thanks for the report. I'm not 100% sure as to the state of this repository. From my understanding, we're aiming to drop support for SDL as a back-end for OpenTK. @cra0zy knows more about the specifics here. |
Why on earth would you make that change? |
From what I can recall, the main idea is that we want to minimize the number of back-ends we have to support/fix/provide feedback on. The default back-ends should be completely sufficient for every use, and relatively transparently (with some testing) handle everything. I could be horrendously wrong here, so you'll need to get a clear answer from cra0zy here. Is there some reason you're using SDL over the default ones? |
Well, it has Wayland support. |
And the default back-end doesn't? What would we need to add that to the default? |
Which is the default backend? |
I said reverse, drop the native support and support only SDL backend. |
Oh, alright. |
Thanks for the clarification, @cra0zy. |
The latest version is 2.0.4, and OpenTK depends on some features from it.
