Sure wish there was a db where you could search for a game and see recommended settings/install guide. There is so much bad info, incomplete guides and missing detail in so many forms out there:
Maybe this helps someone else, but everything seems to work GREAT:
Using Tainted Grail v1.07a
Download Optiscaler (As of today I used Optiscaler Nightly build v0.7.7-pre9). From what I understand earlier builds can require other changes/files. Google "Optiscaler" and I'd highly suggest only downloading from github.
Download and install dlss-swapper (if you haven't already) - Again, google and use github download - today's latest: v1.2.0.3
from the compressed Optiscaler distributable, in my case: OptiScaler_v0.7.7-pre9_Daria.7z extract optiscaler.dll, optiscaler.ini and amd_fidelityfx_dx12.dll and place them in the directory where Tainted Grail is installed. On my machine: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Tainted Grail FoA\
Rename Optiscaler.dll in your Tainted Grail directory to dxgi.dll
Open Optiscaler.ini in a text editor (notepad?). Search for Dx12Upscaler=auto and change it to Dx12Upscaler=dlss
Search for FGType=auto to FGType=optifg
Optional, I don't have an insert key on my keyboard so I change my optiscaler shortcut key to ShortcutKey = 0x24. Search for ShortcutKey and it explains what to do
Save and close.
Run dlss-swapper. Chose Tainted Grail and then update DLSS to the latest release (v3.10.3 for me). Close dlss-swapper.
You need to make sure you are running Tainted Grail in DX12 mode. In steam, select library and then right-click on Tainted Grail:The Fall of Avalon. On the first page you should see, there is a text field that says "Launch Options". Put "-force-d3d12" (without quotes) in that field. Close the dialog
Still in Steam, run Tainted Grail. Once loaded, hit the Optiscaler hotkey. It should pop up the blue dialog and in the upper right ensure it says DirectX 12 - DLSS in the upper left corner. Close the overlay.
In the Tainted Grail in-game Settings under Display you should be able to change "Dynamic Resolution" from STP to STP or DLSS. Choose DLSS.
Now hit the Optiscaler hotkey again. Under Upscalers it should say "DLSS". "Frame Generation" should say OptiFG. If you close and play the game now you will be using DLSS but not using frame generation.
To enable frame generation, press the Optiscaler hotkey. Under the section Frame Generation (OptiFG), check FG Active, FG HUD Fix, FG Allow Async and IMPORTANT FG Flip (Unity) and Use FSR Input Values. Press "Save INI" at bottom of the popup.
You can now select the Upscaler. I have a 9070XT so I chose FSR 3.X/4. Press "Change Upscaler" afterward.
This automatically changed FFX settings to say "FSR 4.0.1 *" You can select FSR 2 or FSR 3 also. Again, press the "Save INI" button
You can play with how much scaling you want to use by adjusting the Scaling Slider under Dynamic Resolution using the Tainted Grail settings in-game.
Voila! Super crisp graphics, very little stuttering, FSR4 support without waiting for an update (or at least as close as it gets for now).
You can turn on the Optiscaler FPS Overlay to ensure you are using DX12, your choice of Upscaler and FPS/Frametime displays. In the main Optiscaler window, expand "FPS Overlay". Select "FPS Overlay enabled" and "Horizontal" You can then shoose what is displayed by cycling through "Overlay types"
