Unable to load DLSS > FSR4 in OptiScaler 0.7.9 but loading works in OptiScaler v0.7.7-pre9 (Daria)

Since there has been an active increase in new issues without any basic info to help troubleshooting, we're releasing this Issue Report Template that should help troubleshoot without our magic 8 ball. Going forward, issues that do not follow the Template will be ignored.

Game name and version: Infinity Nikki (native, non-Steam)

Mods and mod versions used

OptiScaler 0.7.9 - NOT working
OptiScaler v0.7.7-pre9 (Daria) - WORKING

GPU: AMD 9060 XT 16 GB

OS Win 11 24H2

Used automated or manual install?

Wanted to use Automated but renaming Optiscaler.dll to winmm.dll keeps failing and bat file just fails instead of skips and goes to next step.

If on AMD/Intel and Automated, used DLSS inputs?

Also please mention in description which upscaler inputs are used (which upscaler you selected in game settings).

Please describe the issue and steps to reproduce it

I am using FSR4 which works in pre9 (Daria), however latest 0.7.9 keeps saying unable to detect nvgx etc and there are NO clear Manual steps to ensure that spoofing is set up correctly for AMD/Intel GPUs.

I have attached

• OptiScaler.log (set LogLevel=0 and LogToFile=true in OptiScaler.ini, zip it if too big)
• Screenshot of game folder (where you placed Opti)
• Screenshot of Opti overlay in-game (opens with shortcut, default Insert)

Not sure how there are NO clear Manual steps when it's written in the Wiki-Installation and all it takes is to transfer the files and instead of running the bat (which is a glorified renamer BAT), you just rename OptiScaler.dll to dxgi or winmm or version.dll or whatever name Opti already supports. Spoofing is always enabled by default.

Edit: The only thing missing in the Wiki is the mention that nvngx replacement: Exists is the only relevant part, nvngx.dll: Not exist is irrelevant since Opti now automatically locates the DLSS file and redirects to it without the need for relocating and renaming. Which I've just added.

A game that heavily relies on aesthetics, especially with the sheer amount of textures it loads onto its memory. Optiscaler was the sole thing carrying my experience on my Intel Arc 4GB Vram system, even with a functional RT.

That somehow changed towards the latter half of last month when i triggered returnee after 3 weeks of absence. Game was simply stating and prevented boot by stating that the nvngx (or winmm.dll) is a illegal software and will prevent the launch.

Now with the housing patch i was wondering if this is doable, i want my xess to be used like before so i find myself here

I’m also encountering the same issue. In versions 0.7.8 and 0.7.9, even after using Fakenvapi (which detects the GPU as NVIDIA RTX 4090 within the game), I still can’t select DLSS. This problem didn’t occur in the 0.7.7 pre-release versions. I tried searching for nvngx_dlss.dllin the game directory, renaming it to nvngx.dll, and copying it to the same folder as OptiScaler, but the issue persists. Fortunately, the game supports FSR2 and XeSS, so I can use OptiScaler to convert to FSR4 instead.

Would be cool if someone could upload a log after reproducing the issue on 0.7.9 (and maybe a log with the last working version), so we could actually try troubleshooting (although this might be another ACE issue with the newer system).

The issue may be caused by this commit e556049. I have tested it on another ACE game.

I can confirm facing the same issue on Death Stranding Director's Edition. v0.7.7pre12 worked out of the box, while v0.7.9 didn't present FSR4 as a choice.

Will try getting some logs later, but my specs are:

• Radeon RX 9070XT
• Manjaro Linux (kernel 6.16.4, Mesa 25.2.1)
• Proton GE 10-10

@AlpacaRotorvator or you can just update to a newer Proton that actually supports FSR 4.0.2

Edit: I believe GE-Proton10-13 is the first that added support.

Thanks @TheRazerMD. I had actually installed GE 10-15 but set to use 10-10 thinking it was the most recent instead 🤦 Using 10-15 FSR 4.0.2 works out-of-the-box, so please disregard my report.
