Hi @ronjumath - I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are trying to do. Are you asking, essentially, why the log files no longer exist?

It is not possible to reenable the log files, however, the log file contents are just in a new location. You can get them through journalctl as well as /var/log/messages

I understand we can get the evm and automation logs from journalctl as well as /var/log/messages. Is it possible to split in to separate logs (similar to the older versions of manageiq) instead of /var/log/messages?

I came across the discussion #22633 about automation and EVM logs. My scenario is similar, and I want to ask if it is possible to split automation and EVM logs into separate log files instead of having them combined in /var/log/messages or accessible only via journalctl.

I understand from your earlier response that the logs have been consolidated in recent versions, but is there any way to achieve separate logging through?

Hey @radvc you can see just the automation logs by using the -t, --identifier=SYSLOG_IDENTIFIER option of journalctl so if you want to only see automation logs: journalctl -t automation and if you only want to see evm logs: journalctl -t evm

You can also export the journald output to a file like journalctl -t automation -o short > automation.log

Since journald is a standard system utility you are free to customize it however you'd like so you could forward to syslog and configure syslog to split out files or forward to a common rsyslog server to get all of your appliance logs in one place.
