Installation test error [runtime errors:tests/errors/runtime/multiple-drivers.futil]

I followed the steps on the website and when I ran core tests, I received the following errors. Any idea why it happens?

hmmm could you run runt -i core --diff ?

Seems like one of the error tests might be expecting a different outcome or possibly something in the toolchain is missing.

edit: better yet, run runt -i core --only fail --diff

I tried to install the fud again and rerun the command runt -i core --only fail --diff

Ah I see what's going on. You're using verilator through homebrew. Unfortunately there is an issue with the the mac version of the ar utility that makes the current homebrew build break. I believe the source of verilator has fixed this problem however it hasn't yet made it to the homebrew version.

You can downgrade to Verilator 4.200_1 to avoid this or build verilator from source. Unfortunately there isn't really a good way around this at the moment.

I think a good tactic here might be to rely on Icarus Verilog instead of Verilator for your experiments! You can just acknowledge that those Verilator-based tests are broken on your machine and attempt another route while tryin to write Calyx programs.

I second this ^. Best not to waste time on toolchain compatibility in this instance

We have removed the offending test from the core test suite. The reason this was failing was likely because of problems with the verilog simulation.
