Thank you! I have tried mostly all of those. I am about to run and grab an Ethernet to type c connector a d try to finish the installation process that way. It’s been a rough year. He was my fiancé and together 8 years. He got into every single device in this house our TVs, the Xbox my kids stuff I’ve gone through two phones for bank cards Every single app I had he got into except for my Proton MailEvery single app I had he got into except for my Proton Mail…. He denies it still today, but I am super close to proving everything and I sent the original laptop that he hacked and some external hard drives that I put a lot of stuff on to digital forensic investigators so I’m definitely going to not give up actually it’s motivating me to push myself harder… I have come a long way. I didn’t know anything about this a year ago and even though I am learning different things all over the place, once I’m done with this laptop I made a set up I’m looking forward to making, using and continue school. He has watched me go through all of this and never even asked if I needed help. It’s actually very traumatic and stressful going through Something like this, Once I’m done with my first class, which is 500 hours I plan on learning how to build my own website and I want to use it to tell my story and to help others that have been through the same thing going through the same thing. If you can’t trust a person you were going to marry, who can you trust? Thank you so much for the email!

It sounds like you've been through a challenging experience with your devices and security. It's great to hear you're diving into the cyber and coding world as a new career path!
Regarding your current issue with installing Windows on your Surface 5, it seems like you're encountering a specific problem during the installation process where the WiFi setup screen freezes and you're unable to proceed. Here are a few steps and considerations that might help:
-
Verify Installation Media: Ensure that the bootable USB you're using is correctly created and functional. Sometimes, creating a bootable USB can encounter issues, so using a different USB creation tool or re-creating the USB might help.
-
Check BIOS Settings: Access the BIOS settings on your Surface 5 and ensure that there are no unusual settings affecting USB functionality or network setup. Sometimes, adjusting BIOS settings related to USB support or network interfaces can resolve such issues.
-
Try Different USB Ports: If possible, try using different USB ports on your Surface 5. Sometimes, certain ports might have different levels of compatibility or functionality during the installation process.
-
Update Firmware: Ensure that your Surface 5's firmware (BIOS) is up to date. Microsoft occasionally releases updates that can address hardware compatibility issues or improve system stability during installation.
-
Hardware Check: Since you mentioned issues with keys and touchpad not working during this specific screen, it might indicate a hardware issue or driver problem specific to the installation environment. Checking Microsoft's support resources or forums for similar issues with Surface devices during Windows installation might provide specific solutions or workarounds.
-
Contact Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, reaching out to Microsoft support or visiting an authorized service center for Surface devices might be necessary. They can provide diagnostics and possibly repair or replace any hardware components if needed.
I hope these suggestions help you get past this installation hurdle so you can continue building up your laptop for your exciting new journey in cybersecurity and coding!

Body
I have unfortunately been hacked about a year now, I am on my 4th (and WILL be the last) laptop, had to get a new phone, etc got into all my apps, been through 4 bank cards.. so I got serious and decided to change careers. Fell in love with the cyber/coding world. Once I started I couldn’t stop. Starting school soon🤓 found out by trial and error, long hours, and research that it was someone very close to me. Talk about a nightmare. Anyways, I have learned a lot in a year. So thanks for the homework, this person did something to my boot process, kernels and drives. I have conquered the drive issue and kernels.. I have a surface 5 (new) I had Ubuntu as main OS. He somehow added another volume to it, creating squash files with snapd. Fixed that, wasn’t easy for a beginner since it was done remotely and through a UTM on his phone. Now I have reinstalled windows through bootable USB, hoping it would fix errors that way, and it did for the most part. During install, it goes to WiFi screen and stops. The next button is greyed out, there is no WiFi icon on the bottom screen, and that’s it. I tried 3 different USB’s from secure computers and WiFi, I have tried to bypass WiFi through registry editor, no success. Only on this screen, my keys and touchpad do not work, even when I use an external keyboard. Any help on this would be appreciated! I have big plans on building this laptop up to something amazing, but I can’t seem to figure this one out. Thanks for any input and nice to meet you all in the GitHub world!
