Troubleshooting GitHub Feed Issue

1. Check GitHub's Status

• Sometimes GitHub might push updates that inadvertently cause issues. Check the GitHub status page to see if there have been any ongoing issues with their service that could explain the missing activity in your feed.

2. Force a Refresh

• Try logging out of your GitHub account and then logging back in. This can sometimes force a refresh of your feed settings and help restore missing activity.
• You can also try refreshing the page or using the Shift + F5 keyboard shortcut (to force a hard reload) to see if the feed updates.

3. Clear Browser Cache or Try Incognito Mode

• Sometimes, browser cache issues can cause feeds or other elements to load incorrectly. Try clearing your cache or viewing GitHub in an incognito window to see if the issue persists.

4. Switch Between 'Watching' and 'Not Watching'

My issue was finally solved by contacting Github support and letting them clear part of the activity feed. On your Github home page with the feed, click on the top right item with your personal icon and choose "Github support" near the end of the menu.

How can I resolve the error 'There was an error in loading the activity feed' on GitHub?

For a temporary fix, it is probably sufficient to deactivate the category of news that causes the prolem. In most cases it seems to be "Repository activities" (see above for details on how to do this).
If the problem persists for a longer time and you want to activate the repository activities again (but can't, because the problem is still there), contact Github support and ask them to clear the history of the news feed, as it probably contains a news item responsible for the crash. You can contact Github support by going to your Github start page, clicking in the top right corner on your icon and selecting in the dropdown menu "Github support" near the end of the menu.
