Downloading files from codespace using ssh

Question: How to Optimize SSH Calls in a Script for Copying Files from Codespaces?

Hi everyone,

I’ve created a script to download files from a GitHub Codespace using the GitHub CLI. However, the script is quite slow due to multiple SSH initiation calls. Here's the current flow:

1. Check for changed files: SSH initiation call Welcome to GitHub product feedback #1.
2. Zip files to a temp directory: SSH initiation call Feature Request: Select a column when adding an issue to a project #2.
3. Copy the files: SSH initiation call Feature request: support release details #3.

The bottleneck seems to be the SSH initiation process, as each call adds significant overhead.

I’ve considered opening an SSH session and reusing it, but it seems Codespaces doesn’t allow persistent SSH sessions (or maybe I’m missing something).

Is there any way to:

• Reuse the same SSH session across multiple steps?
• Optimize this process to reduce the number of SSH calls?
