Can't upload my proof of academic status

Hello,
when I'm prompted to show proof of my academic status I can't upload a document, only take a picture with my smartphone using my FRONT camera which is impossible to do so with a good enough resolution while taking a picture of my computer monitor.

How can I proceed?

I have the same problem too! my ID contains no date so I would like to upload the registration certificate but it is in pdf format, and as only the front camera is enabled I can't even take a picture of it.

I have the same issue. It doesn't let me upload a screenshot of my academic proof. Instead it wants me to take a picture and honestly you couldn't even see anything when I put the paper in front of the camera. Can I email someone or can you all fix this? This is obviously a bug.

Same issue. i have it in pdf file format, but the page doesn't allow to upload documents. Then i printed it and took a photo, but the quality of the photo taking it from the page is miserable. It was mainly blurry, however i sent it and few minutes later my submission was declined. I also think that this i a bug because from the native camera app the photo isn't blurred. This needs to be solved.

I tried putting a ticket through but it doesn't let me. Every time I pick an option for help with the education proof or I found a bug it doesn't let me submit the request. It says I have to go through the 'community'. Not sure what that even means.

This is the response from a team member of GitHub Education regarding this problem and how to successfully submit the application using either the computer's webcam or the mobile phone's front camera.

We've updated our Student Developer Pack Application FAQs & Common Rejection Reasons discussion. It's packed with valuable information that might just have what you're looking for. I've included the section that I feel would best assist.

• I can only use my Front Camera to take a photo.

We understand that students may not have access to high-quality cameras (laptop or phones) but as long as the text is legible the system should be able to process it. Here are a few tips on using a phone to capture.

1. Please ensure that you have allowed camera access on the browser you're using to apply. The steps for this will vary depending on which browser you are using. Information on browsers supported by GitHub can be found here.
2. If you can, print off your evidence and take a photo of this copy.
3. Ensure your image is legible. If you are unable to read the text on the image itself then the verification process may not be able to either. If you are taking a photo of a screen try to have it as large a resolution as possible - take a photo of the evidence on a monitor rather than a phone.
4. Keep the text legible. It's preferred to have the full shot of the evidence but try and capture the important sections of it to confirm your student status. If the photo is too large and makes the text tiny then zoom in appropriately.
5. Alternatively you may use another mobile device or computer.

I would suggest zooming in on the camera, we need some essential info like name, school name, date.

It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, having to print a digital document just to take a picture of it. Congratulations on not even making sense, Github!

Btw what I did was take a picture of my student ID and it worked. Taking pictures of your schedule won't work but the ID comes out pretty good. I finally got it approved after that.
