I am trying to setup my first GitHub page with a Jekyll template

Hi, I am very new to GitHub, and I am trying to set up my first portfolio page.

I wanted a nice and simple template, so I found the chirpy-starter theme by cotes2020 and forked it. However, I am having trouble adjusting the _config.yml file. I do not know what I am doing wrong; plus the error messages do not mean a lot to me either.
I tried searching for similar discussions and reading the documentation, but despite trying different things, I have had no luck so far.

Are the url and baseurl correct?

Note that I am not using GitHub Desktop, just the web version.

The URL in the _config.yml file looks fine to me. I'd suggest doing the following:

• First, change the name of your repo from "analysis" to "joannagladysz.github.io"
• If you haven't already done this, go to Settings -> Pages and under Branch, pick "main" then click "Save" (See screenshot)
  

GitHub will serve up the page on that URL (i.e., "joannagladysz.github.io") after a couple of minutes.

Thanks @lizardcat, for your suggestions. I changed my repository name to what you said, but unfortunately, it still hasn't worked. I keep getting this error:

Yea, I had a look at your actions and saw that error. How strange because your commit message has been accepted before it seems. Can you perhaps try pushing with a different commit message?

Someone on Stackoverflow suggested I use the Chirpy starter theme instead and I followed all instructions and it workes so far. Thanks for you help @lizardcat :)

Basically, I followed the 'recommended' method on the template site itself, which explains quite well step by step what has to be done.

Also, I found that unless you have another repository for your project page, you do not need to put anything in the baseurl when adjusting the _config.yml file. The only thing you really need to do when setting up your first page is put your link, in my case https://joannagladysz.github.io, in the url (without the forward slash at the end). I hope this helps.
