School Blocks External Emails

Hi everyone,

My school that I go to blocks all outside emails. What are my options for still pursuing Github Education benefits?

Hey @jamescoding43 If your school email address cannot be used, it may be due to one of the following reasons:

• Unverified Domain: If your academic email has an unverified domain, you need to provide further proof of your academic status. Upload a clear image of your school ID, academic transcript, or other document showing proof of your academic status with at least one visible date.

• Lax Email Policies: If your school issues email addresses before paid student enrollment or provides lifetime access to alumni, additional proof of your academic status is required. Upload a document that clearly demonstrates your current academic status with a visible date.

• Email Already Used: If your academic email has already been used to request a GitHub Student Developer Pack for another account, you cannot reuse it. You must merge your accounts if you have multiple personal accounts.

If none of these apply, ask your school IT staff to contact GitHub for assistance with the domain.

If your school blocks outside emails, you still have a couple of options:
Use alternative proof of enrollment – GitHub Education accepts documents like your student ID card, transcript, or other official proof that 2 shows your name, school, and enrollment status.
Apply with a personal email – You can apply with your own email address (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) as long as you upload valid proof of your student status during the application.
Contact your school IT/admin – Sometimes schools can whitelist GitHub’s education emails or provide you with a special academic email that works for external services.
So even without direct school email access, you can still get approved by submitting proper documents.

I'm not sure if they've changed it but Github now requires that you use a school email.

Where can I manually apply? It doesn't let me through the verification screen without the verified email.
