Are Plugins on the Marketplace Safe?

Hi everyone! Am wondering if plugins on the marketplace are quality controlled before they are released? I really wanna automate my Slack status, but I am afraid of doing everything that "Slack status" the plugin asks for. Is there any way to know/check? Or is it basically trust? Thank you!

All plugins are run through multiple virus scans and are manually reviewed, however, the official policy of marketplace is use at your own risk. We are constantly making improvements to our review system.

The Slack Status plugin specifically, is open source, but we do not currently offer an Elgato build system internally for plugins or code signing, therefore we also can't guarantee that the code visible on GitHub is the code used to build the plugin.
