It would be really nice to develop Haraka plugins in TypeScript.

Is there any information I might be missing about this before I attempt to write types for Haraka?

With TS you can compile back to ES6 and ES7, so it should be possible, right? Give it a try and let us know how it fares.

Correct. My goal is to type the external API for Haraka -- plugins, etc -- so that folks can develop high quality software more quickly

I say go for it. There's already a laundry list of existing plugins. Rather than reinventing wheels, just rewrite a few of the existing and most useful plugins in TS as proofs of concept, building out your TS API scaffolding along the way.
