White noise / Green noise / Ocean sounds / Ambient loop tracks

Maybe as a local library function or some sort of flag it would be nice to have a way to specific a track as a loop that once started just keeps playing.

In particular I am looking to replace native functions you find on devices like the google mini where you just say "Play white noise" and away it goes all night.

Given the existing work on the play intents I think this would work well in Music assistant. Could also be useful for certain types of music as well for parties etc to have a looping playlist of some form.

If there is a way to specify looping a track with intents I am not aware of that might just work as well if I could bind a specific track and looping to the command.

Your question is about voice intents. The first entry on that page is about voice intents.

You need an intent to set the repeat mode as well as the play command. This is covered in the docs

The Repeat part is the part I am having issues with..

So do I need to call Play, then "media_player.repeat_set" in a sequence?

Feels like if the play service had a enqueue option of "loop" this would be as simple as a small modification to the existing custom sentences for the provided HACS play intent.

So part way there after figuring out that HA has a media_player.repeat_set and that intent scripts allow sequence blocks

Now I just need to fix the area / entity targeting instead of hard coding it.

I did, but 99% of my problem was figuring out I needed to combine the separate MA and HA commands and that intent actions supported sequences through a bunch of trial and error on syntax as no examples are given other than single commands. I wasn't sure if I could do it in line or would have to pass variables to a script.

Keep in mind I have NEVER used music assistant or intents before.

As per my second comment, it appears the examples with the variables have two variants Set (for devices) and SetArea (for area based sentences) I am guessing I will need two variants of my intent for that as well. I was just going to keep pounding away at it till I figured out the variants. Given the examples have little context, other than your comments about looking at the intent documentation in that thread..

I have shelved it for now as I really don't have time to debug intents and don't have reliable voice hardware yet, I am just testing with my phone and the preview edition sucks for music so at this time I don't plan on getting it.

For now I added a playlist called white noise to the local library and a white noise track to the local library which is on the server.. Using this the correct track tends to play most of the time as local files are preferred and it is an exact name match to the recommended intents.

What I haven't tested is looping.. or if there are issues with the play list.. One of the reasons I wanted to FOR SURE clear the play list and FORCE repeat mode was to ensure it plays all night.

The default play mode from the default intent might actually already set repeat by default? It seems to repeat at least once but I haven't tested with shorter tracks.

I would probably use a script for this and then conceptually, based on what you just said, you need to use the media_player.clear_playlist action, then media_player.repeat_set then music_assistant.play_media and I would use the specific URI if you are worried about an incorrect match.
